With goals from James Rivera and Pablo Barrera, Antonio Mohamed's team triumphed as a preparation and motivation to face the Apertura 2015 final match against Toluca.

The match began with a tough fight for the ball in midfield, but Rayados managed to open the scoring after 22 minutes when Candido Ramirez manages to attend Santiago Rivera, who defined before the rival goal to put the 1-0 on the scoreboard .Rayados tried to handle the ball and go forward speed, where Aldo de Nigris and Santiago Rivera led the offensive albiazul. The first half ended with the triumph of Monterrey 1-0 to Salvadoran side.

When starting the second half, the Rayados fought to increase the advantage and went with Pablo Barrera, who in the 49th minute finally managed in the arch rival to make it 2-0. Rayados controlled the game well and came close to extending the lead but a score of Rogelio Funes Mori was annulled by misplaced. Overall the team had a good game and helped them keep rhythm during this small break due to FIFA matches.

As this Apertura 2015 is coming close to an end, we start to hear a lot of rumors of new potential players that can be brought to make the team stronger for next years 2016 campaign.

With this is mind for the last couple of days player Carlos Sanchez had been reported would join Monterrey and as confirmed last week Carlos Sanchez , midfielder from the River Plate of Argentina, is officially the first reinforcement of Monterrey facing the Clausura 2016.

Monterrey vs America 2-1

Monterrey is rising and looks serious facing the final stages to qualify for playoffs. This past Saturday November, 7 2015 Rayados defeated Club América, on Week 16 of the 2015 Apertura match at home stadium BBVA Bancomer Stadium.

The first time was hard, claw and dynamism on the part of both teams, both Rayados and America jumped onto the field thinking of doing damage to the arch's rival. It was only in minute 7 that Darwin Quintero opened the score with the first goal of the night. Rayados didn't cave into panic at being down so early in the game. The game kept being intense but Monterrey just couldn't put one into the net.

In the second half Monterrey did two changes. To complement, the local strategist ushered Pablo Barrera and Jesus Zavala, instead of Edgar Castillo and Luis Perez. Both elements served to Monterrey realized that the party was not losing on goals, but in the middle of the green rectangle. The reward was not long in coming: after a foul embedded in the crossbar to send Edwin Cardona, Rogelio Funes Mori took the opportunity to head off to a solitary goal at the mercy of Americas goalie not covering it and that leveling the score. 'Las Aguilas' were eroded, partly because of his lack of tact and management of game and in part to that on minute 66 with a superb center from Dorlan Pabon, Edwin Cardona simply pushed against to somersault goal to give the meeting and, thus keeping alive the aspirations of Monterrey to advance to the playoffs.

preview Queretaro

This Friday, October 30, 2015 Los Gallos Blancos of Queretaro receive the Rayados of Monterrey in La Corregidora to play the corresponding match of the week 15 of the Apertura 2015.

This game holds a special significance we visit an old acquaintance, the coach with the most wins in our club history: Victor Manuel Vucetich. Vucetich is now head coach of Los Gallos Blancos of Queretaro.

This Apertura 2015, Gallos have stumbled; as well as Rayados, and are 18 points on the tenth place. A victory over Rayados will lead to exceeding our team in the top eight and that would also greatly complicate the pass for us advancing to playoffs.Vucetich knows the team very well. Several of the players who are on the roster were his ex players and that makes it a advantage for Queretaro.

In our favor we have our trio of fowards Cardona-Pabon-Funes Mori who have shown great games with several goals to our advantage. In addition, Mohamed looks like he found his 11 men starting lineup and has given him good results in past games. The team must understand that on Friday it's more than just a game, it's the chance to qualify into the tournament, a defeat would be fatal.

Monterrey vs Tijuana 3-1

Monterrey is rising and looks serious facing the final stages to qualify for playoffs. This past Saturday October 24, 2015 Rayados defeated Xolos of Tijuana on Week 14 of the 2015 Apertura match.

Rogelio Funes Mori scored the first goal in the initial part; Dorlan Pabon with double put the rest of the game in favor of the home side, while Gabriel Hauche pulled by Xolos one goal. Rayados stood well in the BBVA Bancomer Stadium, which has not seen a lost since it opened in last August. Tijuana, tried at times not be such easy prey to overcome, but with the passage of minutes could do little to prevent a further fall. Rogelio Funes Mori was the most dangerous man in the field. The Argentine had at least three clear scoring chances in the first half and the last was made effective.

In the second part, in a couple of minutes the score move on both fronts. First Dorlan Pabon made it 2-0 at minute 63 with a powerful forehand from outside the area. Then Gabriel Hauche Tijuana received pass inside the area and fired a shot that the ball went into Monterrey net with a useless bow from Rayados goalie Jonathan Orozco. However Xolos hopes to be able to tie the game soon vanished. On minute 71 Edwin Cardona took powerful shot that was rejected by Xolos goalie Vilar within the area, but the rebound fell to Pabon and the Colombian right shot made it 3-1 in the BBVA Bancomer stadium.

With great superiority that his opponent, Monterrey showed a little progress with Antonio Mohamed and still in positions of playoffs with three dates to be played. This following week Rayados will visit Queretaro.

Preview Tijuana

Monterrey will receive Tijuana next Saturday at 19:00 hours on the field of BBVA Bancomer Stadium, this as part of the week 14 of the Apertura 2015. Monterrey must defend tooth and nail its privileged place of the top 8 to be able to pass into playoffs.

Monterrey was not an easy visit last weekend, as the Jaguars took the lead down and rescued by Dorlan Pabon to equalizing the match right when it was about to end. After the tie in Chiapas, Rayados finished on the 8th position with 17 points.

a tie with a goal in the last minute

In week 13 of the 2015 Apertura, Monterrey, with a goal literally in the last minute, took a valuable tie to two goals against Jaguares played at the famous Victor Manuel Reyna stadium in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico.

The first time was hard, claw and dynamism on the part of both teams, both local and Rayados jumped onto the field thinking of doing damage to the arch's rival. The strategy of the two sets allowed a cheerful game. 'Jaguares' was the team that pushed forward, opened ranks and sought to play along the middle ground, taking advantage, to face a well backfield. The score was opened after 16 minutes when Emiliano Armenteros received a ball in the area, took the shot and put up 'Jaguares' with the 1-0 on the board. Rayados didn't cave into panic at being down, they continued playing with style, squeezing in the necessary time and trying to match the actions based on two options, the quick touch and speed. It was not until the 36th minute that, on a breakaway on the right, Edwin Cardona scored the accurate cross for Funes Mori and with a precise header, send it to the bottom of the net.

In the second half Chiapas came back with an eye to the arch rival, knew that the tie did not help much, least of losing points at home, and launched in search of victory. On the 59th minute 'Jaguares' achieved the goal after a shot from distance that hit the left post of goalkeeper, the ball ended up at the feet of Juan Insaurralde , who did not miss the opportunity to send it into the net. On this occasion if there was some slippage in the ranks of Rayados, who sought an immediate response to the forward lines, to play with enthusiasm rather than strategy. The defense of Chiapas was ordered by Ricardo LaVolpe and executed to perfection, to leave no gap open in favor of Rayados and it seemed the score would not move more. But with mere genius luck it all changed, with Rayados foward in the last minute of the added time, Dorlan Pabon took a powerful shot from out of the area with such precision that Jorge Villalpando could do nothing to prevent the shot from going in and that was the final tie.

Puebla vs Monterrey 1-1

This past Friday October 2nd, 2015 due to the no league activity from the FIFA international matches going on, Rayados played a game that had been postponed back in August due to them opening their new stadium they weren't able to play match 2 against football team Puebla. Rayados tied with a taste of defeat after Puebla achieved evening the score in the worst possible way, a goal in the last minute.

However, there is something salvageable. Regardless of how it was lost, Monterrey showed a great display of play for most of the 90 minutes. No doubt the final score produces a terrible frustration because there is no worse feeling than a goal in the last minute, and it is obvious that this can cause us the fanatics to lose sight of how well the team played most of the game.

Nor can we stop saying that the club needs to improve in several aspects yet, it is inadmissible to lose points so lost, especially when every game is vital to qualify for the playoffs. Despite the score, Rayados is not the same as two weeks ago. More order, discipline and dedication is making clear that the result before Leon was not pure luck, but the team is starting to show its true potential.

It's your land, but our Home.

Like stated above I have a thing for soccer, which includes more than just my love for Rayados, I support the Mexican National Team as well so with this said, yesterday Saturday October 10, 2015 in Pasadena California a very important match took place.

With a fitting end to any blockbuster was like the Mexican team won their place in the 2017 Confederations Cup. A goal from Paul Aguilar broke the streak of six games without beating the United States for a final 3-2 in overtime.

Javier Hernandez opened the scoring for Mexico, while Geoff Cameron equalized for United States; Oribe Peralta scored the 2nd goal for 'el Tri' for the first overtime, Bobby Wood relocated all even in the second overtime, but Paul Aguilar he puts final figures with a goal near the end. The meeting began prickly, strong and long touch on all sectors of the field, the Classic between CONCACAF two biggest rivals remained with no passion in the opening minutes.

The Mexican team showed a good start and that it originated the trio on the offensive Jimenez, Hernandez, and Peralta united and finally created the play of the first goal. Raul first stopped heel pass to Peralta who headed only to the area and delayed the arrival of Chicharito  who ended up scoring. However, the bucket of cold water came fast, the US team equalized after 15 minutes with a head hit of Geoff Cameron , who took the bad mark Oribe Peralta to his advantage that lead to leave goalie Muñoz unable to stop the ball and with this even out the score at the Rose Bowl. After the goal, the game leveled down a little, but that did not stop scoring plays created on both sides.

For the second part, the 22 players who completed the first half remained in the field, but it was the Mexican national team that came back with the substance for the second goal in their favor. Raul Jimenez wasted two clearer shots in the beginning. The former Benfica player missed the first opportunity shot as Guzan capped it, then he fanned the ball inside the area with no mark on him but didn't have enough time to execute so that option was also lost.

The United States had a real counterattack that ended with Jozy Altidore powerful shot from outside the box, but Moises Munoz well covered it. Minute 59 Chicharito missed the clearest shot, Jimenez left him the ball alone in the area, but Bayer Leverkusen did not connect well, he struck the ball and missed the second goal of the Mexican national team. From then on, the domain and the ball was of 'el Tri.' Mexicos coach Ricardo " Tuca " Ferretti decided to modified the lineup and brought captain Rafael Marquez and Andres Guardado out to be substituted by José Rivas and Javier Güemez, without changing its tactical system. Jürgen Klinsmann just made a change, Yedlin for Zardes. Mexico looked better, but had no luck and forcefulness, United States retreated right back and held Mexicans looking backlash attacks, the game went into overtime.

In extra time, the Mexican national team looked in better shape and it showed on the field, the ball Hector Herrera space which reached Paul Aguilar and delayed the arrival of Oribe Peralta who scored against Brad Guzan on minute 96, the Rose Bowl exploded with cheers from all the Mexican fans in the stands. After the goal by Chicharito for Mexico, Jesus Corona took his spot, while for the US, Bobby Wood subbed in for Altidore's spot.

Bobby Wood that had little in the field equalized thanks to a shot from inside the area  pass that Yedlin assisted on minute 108, and with this score it felt like it appeared that the 2017 Confederations pass was to be defined in penalties, but no. At minute 118, Jimenez lifted ball to Paul Aguilar who connected it to the ball in the air and beat Guzan with a goal that was worth a ticket to Russia 2017. Referee Joel Aguilar blew the final whistle at minute 122 and every Mexican celebrated the pass to FIFA Russia 2017 Confederations Cup.

it was about time...

Rayados turned to delight their fans with a outstanding performance at home this past Saturday October 3rd playing against football club León, (football club based in the city of León, Guanajuato, Mexico.) on match 12 of the 2015 Apertura. With this victory Rayados kept many fanatics hopes alive of getting to the area of qualification.

The win was essential but what is even more urgent is that the team achieved away to capture this same idea that has been able to demonstrate to their people. It is no surprise that Rayados play well in their stadium and even scoring a goal was achieved repeatedly this weekend for a total of 4 goals.
The following earning a special place in the affection of the fanatics is the Colombian Edwin Cardona who with his determination and great class is present in the moments that the team most needs with goals that give points. The Colombian was little more than exquisite in the game. He excelled with two goals. First at 18 'with a marvelous free kick, while it served to open the scoring. Then at 48 ', Cardona would have a free kick from the last three quarters of the field, with a parable that barely graced the touch of the Leon goalkeeper Christian Martinez, but still ended up in the net.

Although mathematically Rayados still fails to move up into the top eight needed to qualify for this Apertura 2015. Distances are very short and with a good run of two or three more wins like last nights could dramatically change the course of things for the team. The upcoming break for the FIFA dates will be good for current head coach Antonio Mohamed, who can work on tactical aspects obviously the team needs to finalize details that are essential for the teams improvement.

EST. 1945

My parents were born and raised in small towns from Nuevo Leon, Mexico hence I would travel a lot to Nuevo Leon as a kid up until I turned 17. Monterrey is the capital of Nuevo Leon, and it's one of the most beautiful cities I've traveled to. I got to have some of the best traveling experiences in that city. Like my first football match.

Although the beginning of Club de Futbol Monterrey was back in 1945. The team better known as 'Rayados' is a Mexican football club from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Who currently plays in the Liga MX. The team who is well known as 'Rayados'(the stripe ones) because of it's tradition of uniforms of navy blue and white stripes along with the teams crest. The first time I witnessed a game from this club at the age of 14, I never thought I would become such a die hard fan.

I am now 20 and have this undeniable love for the team as well as the sport. It's weird because I can watch soccer for hours and be so entertained. I enjoy watching the flow of the games, and the different styles and these talented players. The chemistry between players that make up a team. Teams build on so much history like the way 'Rayados' is.
